“Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe finally won a Tony after missing out on nominations for  “Equus,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” “The Cripple of Inishmaan,” and “The Lifespan of a Fact.” The 34-year-old triple threat finally won Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for his much-appreciated performance in “Merrily We Roll Along” (Best Revival of a Musical). A Broadway veteran, Jonathan Groff won his first Tony for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. Angelina Jolie’s “The Outsiders” received “Best Musical,” along with Danya Taymor’s Best Direction. Alicia Keys’ musical Hell’s Kitchen won two major honors for Maleah Joi Moon and Kecia Lewis: Best Leading Actress and Best Featured Actress, respectively. Star power governed lead performances in “Succession,” Jeremy Strong for “An Enemy of the People,” and Sarah Paulson for “Appropriate,” which won Best Play Revival. “Stereophonic’s” Best Actor and Actress in a Play were Will Brill and Kara Young for “Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch.” Hillary Clinton surprised audiences by introducing “Suffs,” a musical she produced, which won Best Original Score and Best Musical Book.
