CBS has cancelled S.W.A.T. ahead of the 14th episode of the current season.
The cancellation of S.W.A.T. follows CBS pulling the plug on FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International earlier in the week.
Showrunner Andrew Dettman expresses sadness over the cancellation, praising the cast and crew for their hard work and dedication over the eight seasons.
Executive producer Shawn Ryan thanked the fans, cast, crew, and network for the opportunity to work on S.W.A.T. and tell the stories of Hondo and 20-Squad.
S.W.A.T. was initially cancelled after six seasons in May 2023 but was renewed for a seventh season shortly after. It was renewed for an eighth season in April 2024.
S.W.A.T. Season 8 is averaging 4.9 million total viewers, down 20% from its Season 7 audience, and ranks last in total audience among the 14 dramas CBS has aired this season.
