Rick Hurst, Actor on ‘The Dukes of Hazzard,’ Dies at 79

Rick Hurst, known for his role as Deputy Cletus Hogg on ‘The Dukes of Hazzard,’ passed away at the age of 79.

Hurst was described as more than a character to fans, with his gentle smile, comedic timing, and kind-hearted spirit brightening every scene.

Before his role on ‘The Dukes of Hazzard,’ Hurst appeared in various TV programs and guest-starred on shows like The Bob Newhart Show, Gunsmoke, and more.

Survived by his son Ryan Hurst, also an actor, Rick Hurst first appeared as Cletus on ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ in 1979 and continued through various seasons and reunion telefilms.
