Kate Hudson Gets Oscar Nomination

Kate Hudson is nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of Milwaukee’s Claire Sardina in the film Song Sung Blue.

Song Sung Blue tells the true story of Lightning & Thunder, a Neil Diamond tribute band.

Hudson plays Claire Sardina opposite Hugh Jackman, who plays Mike Sardina in the movie.

Claire Sardina stopped by the WISN 12 News studio in Milwaukee in December to discuss her Hollywood whirlwind since the movie came out.

“It’s been surreal,” Claire Sardina said. “It brings back a lot of memories: good, bad, indifferent, love story, music, Milwaukee.”
“Lightning” Mike Sardina died in 2006.

“He’s my angel,” Claire Sardina said.

The film brought in $12 million in its opening weekend.

The 98th Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, March 15.
