Robert Carradine, ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Actor, Dies at 71

Robert Carradine, known for his role as Lizzie McGuire’s father in the Disney Channel series, has died at the age of 71, his family confirmed Tuesday.
In a statement, his brother and manager Keith Carradine said the actor “succumbed to bipolar disorder after fighting it for almost 20 years.”
Carradine was part of the well-known Carradine acting family and appeared in numerous television shows and films throughout his career. He gained a new generation of fans for his role as Sam McGuire, the father of Hilary Duff’s character on ‘Lizzie McGuire’.
Duff was among those who paid tribute following news of his death.
“This one hurts. It’s really hard to face this reality about an old friend,” she wrote on Instagram.
“There was so much warmth in the McGuire family and I always felt so cared for by my on-screen parents. I’ll be forever grateful for that. I’m deeply sad to learn Bobby was suffering. My heart aches for him, his family, and everyone who loved him,” she said.
