Former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Misty Copeland recently shared an Instagram video documenting her recovery

after undergoing hip replacement surgery. The clip shows Copeland taking her first steps with assistance and focusing on healing

physically and mentally. Copeland retired from ABT in 2025 after a groundbreaking career that included becoming the first

African American woman promoted to principal dancer in the company’s history. She has since been involved in various

endeavors, including writing books, public speaking, and founding The Misty Copeland Foundation to provide dance education

access to young students.
