Britney Spears Arrested in California on DUI

Pop star Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday night in Ventura County, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to reports.

Law enforcement sources say Spears was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 p.m. in Westlake Village, an area near her home. She was taken into custody and later booked at the county jail around 3 a.m., according to inmate records.

Authorities took Spears to a hospital shortly after the traffic stop so officers could obtain a blood sample to determine her blood alcohol level. Officials said she was not injured and the hospital visit was part of the investigation.

Spears was released from custody around 6 a.m.

The arrest comes shortly after Spears won a legal case involving a man from Louisiana who was granted a permanent restraining order after allegedly posting disturbing messages online and showing up at her home.
