Many millennial parents are choosing to have only one child due to the high cost of raising children in the U.S.

Factors such as skyrocketing housing costs, rising medical expenses, and expensive child care make having multiple children financially challenging.

The fertility rate in the U.S. has declined since the Great Recession, with many parents feeling that having more than one child is financially impossible.

Despite concerns about socialization and loneliness, only children can develop strong social skills through friendships and interactions with adults, fostering independence and creativity.

Parents can create a sense of belonging and connection for their only child through meaningful traditions and close relationships with extended family or friends.
