Taylor Swift’s speech after being honored at the BRIT Awards as a Global Icon was emotional and inspirational.

Swift received her Icon Award from Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams before giving an emotional speech about “proving them wrong.” “There might be times when you put your whole heart and soul into something, and you’re met with cynicism or skepticism, but you can’t let that crush you. You have to let that fuel you,” Swift said after becoming teary-eyed.

A video played prior to Taylor accepting the award that featured Selena Gomez, Zoe Kravitz, Annie Lennox, and Ed Sheeran congratulating her. Swift thanked her friends as well as the contributors of “Folklore” and “Evermore,” including her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.
